Periodic maintenance is easy yet important for the performance and longevity of any quality cutting board. With regular use and following the recommended instructions, your cutting board will stay clean, moisturized, and always ready for any cutting task.
DO NOT SUBJECT THIS BOARD TO WATER. Any and all water exposure, besides rising off and drying the cutting board immediately, may warp and/or crack this board. This includes, but is not limited to, drying off the board and laying it flat or on a moist dish towel.
1. Cleaning. Thoroughly clean your board after each use with lukewarm water and mild dish soap. Never soak your board in water or place in the dishwasher.
2. Drying. After cleaning, wipe away any excess water and allow the board to dry in a vertical position. Never let a board dry flat as one side can stay damp, causing the board to warp or crack.
3. Oil and Wax. Your board arrives to you having been seasoned with a mineral oil soaking. You will need to reapply food grade mineral oil and/or wax at least once per month. This maintains the board and prevents warping and cracking from the board drying out. We recommend Walrus Oil brand products to maintain your board, but any food safe mineral oil will work. Do not use natural oils like vegetable, olive or peanut oil as these oil are rich in fats and will cause foul smells. Also, never use machine, automative, or grease oils as these are not food safe. Use a cloth to apply oil or board wax, and thoroughly cover all surfaces of the board. Then use a soft towel to wipe away any excess, OR allow the board to dry upright overnight before wiping away excess.
